Protecting your dog in extreme weather
At Martyn’s Mutts, your dog’s welfare always comes first. Weather extremes, whether it’s sweltering heat or freezing cold, can pose serious risks to our dogs. We’re sharing helpful advice on both extremes to help keep your canine companion safe, comfortable, and happy on their walks, no matter the forecast.
Every dog tolerates extreme weather differently, so its important to observe your dog’s body language and energy levels. At Martyn’s Mutts, we assess the temperature risks both before and during our walks, adapting accordingly if necessary.
It’s okay to skip a walk and opt for some home enrichment on extreme weather days - if in doubt, don’t go out!
It can be difficult to know what's considered extreme heat and what temperatures pose a risk. We've created 2 helpful graphics for extreme hot weather to help you make the best decision for your dog.
